Bangkok Vantage Points – Ratchaprarop Tower Mansion
“It will be hard to beat this view” I remember Susanne telling me after our first Bangkok Vantage Points meetup at the Riverview Guest House.
One week later the ten of us were all standing on the roof of the Ratchaparop Tower Mansion and looking at each other in agreement that tonights view is indeed pretty amazing.
Down in front of us was the Din Daeng intersection, the meeting point of three of Bangkok’s major traffic arteries.
As you are looking down, you start to truly understand why people refer to cities as living organisms. With every new burst of cars joining and leaving the highway, you are reminded of the constant breathing of a living thing. And once in a while that rythm comes to a stop, only to be released with the help of police officers guiding the herd of cars like shepards away from the traps in front of them.
As sunlight fades away and the City prepares for the night, the rhythm becomes smoother and each breath longer, leaving the streets to the lone cars traveling at high speeds, zipping across the living metropolis, that is Bangkok.
